Fog-minds: A POEM

Updated on March 19, 2014

Fog-minds: A POEM

Oh yeah! Sea of multifarious creatures
Neophytes of equal race
When shall maturity kiss your lips?
And kill your puerile trace
Your mouths pegged to the quagmire
Your thoughts burning as if on fire
In rancor you thrive
With no love

A mind smelling like a corpse flower
Oh yeah! Sanctimonious loafer
Mouthing lies like a lost stranger
Chewers of the gum of discord
With hate as maid
But, so are we made?

Through the Britton hills of Florida
To the pyramids of Giza, Egypt
The Omo river region of Ethiopia
Down to the marine and wildlife treasures of Kiritimati, Kiribati

Life is one!
In the destination of your heart, I park
To unleash this zephyr of caution
And unbutton my heart for your sake

Pound the heart you race-monger
Tell me you live much longer
Same is our body
Same is our mind
Take the fire and chew it
Tell me it burn you not!

Spare us your pang
For your heart is made of dung
Ears awake for the thought of evil
Villainous sacrosanct with pimple
Bums stuck to the holy chair
Stalking to celebrate our tear

Here and there
One so dear
Same face we wear
Let not colour be our fear

Vocalcoach: thanks for your heartfelt comment. "Love one another" should be the aim of all good thinkers. One we are in all ramification; treat others the way we would want them treat us should apply to everybody. thanks for the helpful comment.

ahorseback: I agree with your understanding and philosophy. Life is short and it is worth living if we live for others too. Love all for the good of all cos we are all one. Glad to have your voice echoed in this most kind and honourable manner. Peace and cheers!

There are those who will always be bigots and racists , of the small minds that they are ! And across the aisle are those who will use the very color of their skin to constantly cry foul ! Also of small minds ! And right here in the middle are we ! Who will go down fighting in tolerance , in true empathy and understanding . Who will join hands and words , without one glance at the color of skin or the accent of voice ! When will we learn ? When we stand out in front of it all and say aloud ! "I love you " as a person , even as different person. And do it now ! Love this hub !

You are right, Audrey. The consciousness should be geared towards letting people know that they should treat others the way they want to be treated. Your point is very clear and right cos empathy will awaken that consciousness of self in thinking about the feelings of others before executing an act of hurt. Audrey, you are the best. thanks for stopping by. bless you.

You raise interesting and important points---the unity of peoples is often lost in the power struggles they engage in--it is so much easier to hurt another when we consider them to be an object--I keep going back to the issue of instilling empathy in people. If we are able to do that then perhaps, we stand a chance

Thanks Eddy, I appreciate your kind comment.

Yes my dear Ruby, fog-minds patrol all over the world and however they think, it is time for them to rethink.

      thanks for that meaningful take.

Rightly said Cecile, we must treat others the way we want them treat us cos we all are same and equal so there should be no one claiming superiority over others which i find very disgusting since we all have same capabilities. It is indeed a shame to think that people with such lobster-pricked minds still exist.

      good one Cecile.

Brotherhood is the key, Frank. you said it all. I concur with you. thanks Boss.

and to my DDE, very sad indeed that a thing as racism is spoken of in this time... I wonder if people who think otherwise to the fact of human equality are sane. Many people get abused racially and I shudder to believe that God gave those same minds as ours. Whether such fog minds like it or not, one shouldn't get thrashed by such words knowing fully well you'd be better than those instigators of division and champions of stupidity.

      have a blessed day you'll.

War against racism can never be won I have experienced racism and know for a fact that racism will always exist. It is sad when racism is always spoken of even in this time of life. Greatly written.

There is so much truth in this poem Ubani. We are all created the same and should treat each other the way we want to be treated. As always, beautiful words! Voted up!

You are absolutely RIGHT, Harishprasad. We are all one and that is the message of the poem even though some schlubs think otherwise.

I thank you for your great understanding of this poem.

      bless you

If I'm not wrong, this poem speaks of universal brotherhood. My friend, we should cherish this vision, live this vision, spread this vision and realize this vision. The whole humanity is like a single large body, a single cell of it ignored-not seen the beauty in wholesomeness. Loved reading this beautiful and very wise poem. Voted up with all my heart.
