Freedom of the Soul
Sun-kissed Horizon
I wish I could go where I could be free
Where sun-kissed earth warms my feet
Where fire flies dazzle in twilit eves
And the silver moon me company keeps.
I wish I could go forth from these icy chills
To meander among cascading hills
Bedaubed with green and colorful frills
Of scented blooms and happy daffodils.
I wish I could go where the heart can soar
And beat in harmony to the rhythm of the oar
Keeping with the current from the ocean floor
In a boat that takes me to that distant shore.
Precious Alone Time
A Space All My Own
I think I may find
In the stillness of the night
When the day's curtain falls
And all action subsides
The rhythm of that harmony
That plays within my heart
But into silence withdraws
When dawn's golden light
Signals to the cacophonous beats
Of bustling humanity upon the clock
Marking its time, inch by inch
Hour by hour, until rest returns
To the leaden body and weary mind
Like the pale and silver orb
That gently strews its sheen
Softly spreads the peace
Upon the spirit deep.
