From Far Away We Are Near

It was my darling’s birthday,

I was over the moon,

I couldn’t wait, went to see her

in the afternoon.

What should I buy for her,

a necklace or a gown?

She said “I will tell you

when you come down.”

I had to travel a long distance

just to be with my honey,

With my heart full of love,

I carried with me some money.

But how could I see her on such a special day

without a present in my hand?

When I phoned, she said “ My love

you must understand,

I don’t need you to buy a gift my dear

you are my Gift, the best,

O.K. if you like, buy a bouquet of flowers

suiting your test.”

I reached there with red and pink roses,

wished her a happy birthday.

We hugged and kissed each other,

Didn’t find words to say.

Cake was cut, candles were lit,

there was good dinner and dance.

We enjoyed all night through

and that enhanced our romance.

Her parents, members of family

And all her friends were there,

What a lovely night it was

for us all to share.

We met each day, walked hand in hand

Jolly good time we had.

Days passed too quickly, I had to return to work

Now I miss her, feel very sad !

I have to wait for a few months more

to be with her again.

Well, there is nothing that I can do,

I have to bear the pain.

She feels the same way as I feel,

She is my sweetheart, my precious, so dear.

We are far away from each other

but from far away we are near.
