Updated on June 3, 2013

George Glenn Jones was born September 12th 1931 in Saratoga Texas U.S.A. He was an America country singer and songwriter, for the last twenty years of his life he was often referred to as the best country singer , he had a very distinctive voice and way of phrasing his words.

George first heard country music when he was only seven years and was given a guitar at the age of nine. George developed a sweet musical style for the guitar to accompany his wonderful voice while singing. George really did have a splendid voice that brings out an imagery in whatever song he was singing you can feel the emotions being placed into the song as it touched many ears that it fell upon.

George Jones died on April 26th 2013 at the age of eighty one years old from hypoxic respiratory failure.

A distinct bird singing sweet melodies

gaily upon every tree it goes

words emanates from the heart

and blesses the soul . It’s the voice

of George Jones a singer of ole.

I have him on a video with Lorrie Morgan on one of my hubs, Me, Without You and i think they do a beautiful job. I loved all the songs he did with Tammy Wynette too, they really complimented each other.

Beautiful JJ. George was wild in his younger years but I think about everyone, even those not crazy about country music came to love him and he turned his life around those last years with a good wife and wonderful family. We will miss him but his music as you have shown us will always be here for us.

I was in the hospital a couple days and am running behind on everything. Trying to catch up. Hope you are well.
