Spiritual Maxims of Sri Chinmoy
Sri Chinmoy
Spiritual aphorisms, maxims, sutras and slokas, has been used from time immemorial, to inspire the seeker to be more focused and one-pointed, in his search for Realisation of the Self. One sees a similar kind of idea in the Koans in Zen Philosophy. Here I have included a small selection of Sri Chinmoy's work. Hope this is useful in your journey towards the Light.
"Do not depend on tomorrow. Do not even depend on today.
Just depend on now, this very moment."
"An abiding sense of security can never come from possession or from achievement."
"God has shown me obstacle-thorns,
Only to make me long for progress-roses."
"We cannot judge others. We do not know their heights;
we do not know their depts.
We do not know what is actually happening in others.
It is the Cosmic Will that is operating in and through each and every individual."
Quote from Sri Chinmoy
"O seeker, be careful! Darkness knows how to grow inside your heart unnoticed.
God-reliance I need, not self-confidence, which is astonishingly fragile."
"A seeker of the highest Truth has to be totally uncompromising.
For him there is only God and God alone."
"A mind of worry, is simply a wasted life."
"In order to follow the spiritual life, we must lead the life of purity.
Otherwise, like a bad student, we shall always fail our examination,
and remain in the same class."
"God measures and treasures not what I have said about Him,
But what I have done for His creation."
"Each life has come directly from the Highest Absolute. We cannot squander life.
We have to feel that each life has a serious meaning of its own."
"We are indestructible; we can never be shaken; we are the very essence of life."
"Nothing can fall from the fallen.
Nothing can succeed in the broken.
Nothing can harm the chosen."
"First you have to make yourself very strong,
Very powerful inwardly, and then only then can we try to help others."
"Like the sun, I shall rise and serve the world with no expectation."
"If you feel helpless and hopeless,
The Master cannot help you at all, and no one else can help you."
"Remain cheerful, for nothing destructive can pierce through the solid wall of cheerfulness."
"Wherever you go, go with inspiration and aspiration. Whatever you do, do with love and concern. Whomever you see, see with purity’s beauty, and responsibility’s glory."
"Life’s perfection road is very long,
But the journey is richly rewarding."
"The very function of ego is separation."
"Here on Earth, the tree offers us an example of aspiration.
It remains on earth with its root in the dirt, but its aim is to reach the Highest."
