Sweet Slumber
Falling asleep, she lays in my arm
Silent as a baby, she breaths in warmth.
Scent of her hair steals the air and awake I lay.
Warmth of her body subdues the shakes
I wonder where her mind is venturing off to.
She lays carelessly and peacefully untroubled with the world
Because she knows I made a promise not to leave her in the dark
She knows I won’t succumb to anything that might keeps us apart
She grips my hand tightly, yet so gentle, as I stroke her hair
With my other hand. Without any hint of fear
In her voice, she sweetly and softly says “I love you.”
