Gentleness/Gentle Self 43rd Good Word in the “good Words Project”

Updated on May 25, 2020

Project Good Words

Jo Grace Goldsmith, is a person who cares deeply for other people and she created "Project Good Word" and each week she gave us one word that each of us should learn and live by to inspire us to become better writers/authors/poets.

When I spoke with Grace, she told me about the project, and I promised her that I would write a poem for each word.

Gentleness-self: be gentle and patience with one's self. I looked up the words but I don't know where I found the definition, because now I can't find it, so this word will be changed to Gentleness/Gentle-Self.

Now this poem that has been unfeatured, most of (Jo) Grace's hubs about the "Good Words" were unfeatured and her hub score dropped actually all her hubs were unfeatured. She was so disheartened that she took down all her hubs and only kept her account so she can read the work of other Hubbers and her friends.

Gentleness/Gentle-Self 43rd Good Word in the “Good Words Project”

© by Shyron Shenko

Gentleness/Gentle-self

I thought this must be wrong

Until I did my research

And here it is and now I know

It is a seed of self-love that everyone should sow

Gentleness/Gentle-self is...

When you are weary

From self-doubt, anguish, or fear

Get in touch with your Gentle-self

And wipe away your tears

Gentleness/Gentle-Self is ….

Your inner-self

Is the inner-being

That you know is true, that’s inside of you

When you feel there is no one else

Gentleness/Gentle-Self is ….

I did not know about my Gentle-self

Until I learned this word

I thought that it was wrong

It is one I had never heard

Gentleness/Gentle-self is …

It is the voice, the heart and the soul

Inside of us that helps us learn and grow

If it is hard to feel compassion

You must spring into action

Gentleness/Gentle-self is …

Then open your heart and let your Gentle-self out

So you can wipe away all seed of doubt

Like the words of Shakespeare tell you what to do

To thine own self be true

Now more than ever, it's important to take care of oneself so that we are able to help others who may need us. It's not a time to be foolishly marching for the freedom to get infected with this caronavirus, or the freedom to catch the disease so that we can infect other people. It's not the time to show off one's IQ by carrying the most dangerous weapons one owns at these demonstrations or to threaten to use them against anyone who dares to infringe on our freedom to endanger ourselves.

In fact, we don't have the right to put the health or lives of others in jeopardy. Strange how some people don't know that. All of our freedoms come with responsibilities, and therefore they have limitations.

One thing is certain. If one threatens or carries out a threat to kill someone, that person will get jail time. Yes, nothing will impinge on that person's right to go to prison or to be automatically entered into a membership in that prison in the free sex club that ought not to exist there, but in fact does exist in many prisons. Something to look forward to for some people, I suppose. People intent on pushing the line without acting responsibly. People who intend to make sure the rest of us know how difficult thinking and making good decisions are for some of them.

An excellent article that helps people (hopefully) to realize how important it is to take care of oneself so that one has the energy, attitude, and good health to take care of others who depend on one.

Sometimes it's difficult to take care of oneself. Circumstances simply don't make allowance for it. I'm sure you know this.

Posting this to AH and FB.

Hope all is well with you. Blessings and hugs, dear friend . . .

My favorite lines that you wrote are the following:

"It is the voice, the heart and the soul

Inside of us that helps us learn and grow"

Being gentle in mind and soul and interacting that way with our fellow beings would result in a more peaceful world in which to live. Well done Shyron! I liked this word assignment.

Au fait (Cee), I am taking care of myself, and I am happy to see (no pun) you are taking care of yourself and will be happy for you when you have the other eye done. that will bring everything into focus.

I hope you are staying cool!

      Blessings dear friend.

I hope you are taking care of yourself during what must still be a difficult time. Having looked after others all of your life, it's probably hard to start thinking of yourself, but do it anyway.

Have just had cataract surgery a few days ago. Had gotten to where I was all but blind. Now I have distance in one eye, so reading and writing is still difficult, but being able to see colors and the world again is amazing. Reminds me of when I got my first glasses so many years ago, only back then my sight was better before I got the glasses than it was/is with cataracts. One more cataract to go at the end of this month.

Hope all is well with you and that you are taking care of yourself.

Now is the time for you and John to take care of yourselves emotionally and physically. Take some time for yourselves and grieve, which is the natural thing at this time. Know that you have many friends in your 'other' life as well as here on HubPages. I know this, because some of your HP friends have contacted me on your behalf. Know that your friends here on HP care and grieve with you. Blessings to you both dear friends . . .

One should always be their own best friend as Mildred Newman, the author of the book by that name, stated and explained very well. Sharing this excellent poem again.

Hope you're having a good day and that all is well. Take care . . .

      Hi Shyron E Shenko.

Certainly, 'Gentleness-Self -love' is written in between the lines throughout your venerable poem. It is " within us" - within the revived spirit which pervades whole nature, mellowing all which would have been harsh and austere...

      Voted up and awesome.

      Peace and blessings.

      Hi Dear Shyron,

Interesting word-phrase. Not sure I've heard it either. We do need to not be so hard on ourselves, for we are only human.

I was thinking of one having a gentle spirit, who is soft spoken, kind, desires little attention, cares deep for others and listens.

Dear Ruby, thank you for the compliment and comment, I do appreciate you so much. I had heard the word and thought the person saying it meant be kind to yourself, until I did the research and found it meant, don't be hard on yourself or go easy on yourself, forgive yourself.

      Blessings and Hugs dear friend.

The gentle-self is a reassuring word that calms when you think about the meaning. I love that you found this word. I also think it is a reminder for us to be gentle with ourselves, sometimes I am too critical with myself, ie, perfection-- It is ok to not be perfect in everything. ( I'm talking to myself here. ) lol. Love what you do my friend Shyron.

Echoing what some others have said I have not heard that before but it works. Gentleness is a word that calls to mind such kind and tender moments that it offers comfort just at the mention.

Very interesting. I don't think I have a gentle self to give me support when things go wrong or make bad moments better. If I did, that self would surly be wore out by now with the life I have had.

Good job figuring out what this phrase/word means and finding ways to use it. Voted up and BAUI. Pinned to AH and sharing with HP followers.

Hope you've been able to get outside and enjoy this pretty day. Blessings and hugs dear friend . . .
