"Get Your Money's Worth"

They wore
bowties and tuxedos,
frilly dresses and lacy gowns,
top hats and diamond earrings.
They came from the upper side of town.
Rolex watches,
gold and silver chains,
expensive fur coats...
and blood stains.

They came
to dine here tonight,
the food quite exquisite.
The wine, its tempting,
Please, won't you sip it?
Drink and be merry,
let all your worries drift away.
Tonight is a night for dancing.
Please, won't you stay?

Embark
upon this journey,
join my ship and crew,
for I've never seen a better bunch,
braver than you.
The ride is quite exciting,
you're sure to get your fill.
Last stop is Hell,
and we won't stop until...
we've reached the depths of Hades,
til the fire is in your eyes.
Welcome to death my friends,
you'll get your money's worth, this ride.

wow thanks marina. that is interesting. especically since I am part french. That is odd. "Oh, you cant come to this party because someone in your family has not been executed yet." lol Glad you liked my poem. and dont let it haunt you too bad. ;)

Interesting Nikki, I see your love of horror in your art :) I too have always enjoyed a good dark story, you know it's good when it haunts you long after. The latest on that note I have enjoyed is the french use to have parties where everyone would wear a red ribbon around their throat. The ribbon was for all the guillotine executions of that time period, and you could only go if someone in your family had been executed thus. They were upper class parties, eerie no? To make a sort of privileged, fashion party of such a tragic ghostly theme? Nice hub Nikki, I imagine there will be a lot more where this came from :)

Found in my death is desire,

      reaching out to believe.

      Broken inside by your fire,

blind to what i have seen.

Touched by my spirit is life,

      waiting to find a way.

      Blood flowing from my eyes,

      making your death my pain.

All that is left crying in me,

you have given away just to find.

      Here i am burning free,

so your hell can also be mine...

      Johnny Love.

Beautiful Nikki. You always seem to give me words.

definitely no refunds acer..because these rich bastards lived there lives so materialistically (if thats even a word) they earned themselves a trip straight to Hell. On the cruise ship of Death. Everything they spent they will get their moneys worth metaphorically speaking,

thanks for stopping by Pink, glad you liked this one.

H.A, nope you make it sound just as dark as intended. :)

And wayne thanx for commenting, hmm i think the rhyme and pace is still good at the end, i guess you have to read it just write, i see where it can get a little off. thanks though.

I like the dinner concept of the last meal. Good pace and rhythm except for the ending, but nevertheless, a good poem.

what an enticing piece of writing about succumbing to death and embarking on a voyage round perdition's flames. impressive indeed. or do i make it sound darker than its supposed to be? lol
