Getting Past This Alone- A poem
Haunting My Mind
I'm the wound you inflicted so deep
Now I'm the one who haunts you in your sleep
I'm the little shadow that hides beneath the bed
I'm the scattered voices that echo in your head
I'm the scraping; that knocking on the wall
I'm the hurt you breathe and I'm waiting in the hall
So look at me and, restrained for air
And plead to me, show that you care
And dream...cause tomorrow is the day
Tomorrow is when you can wish it away
Aware of it all the time
But I go on just living blind
Losing steps as the time goes
Where I'll end up I never really know
Close your eyes pressed to the glass
That's shattered like the dreams that pass
Left broken smeared across the ground
And forgotten with no sound
So look past all the irony
Embrace the hidden harmonies
And just take a second to believe
While there's still time to find and be
Don't have to drown in sullen ways
Can close your eyes; pretend today
A new start; refurnished home
A place to get past this all alone
