Libraries saved her. As a child she sought the protection of words and pages. Superhero librarians fed her brain and imagination.

Quit Acting So Grown Up, Be An Adult Who Colors

Below are some ideas and permissions for childishness.

Examples:

Colour or Color: Depending on what side of the pond you are on, you may be colouring, or coloring. Either way, Adults who color in coloring books are a growing segment of society. There are alternatives to heaving drinking, or pharmaceuticals, it is getting your Color Groove on!

Sidewalk Chalk: At Halloween, take turns making "crime scene outlines" of each other in bright chalk colors, or beautiful pastels. Crisscross, and stack the "outlines.".

Change it from mayhem to major chaos, when piling up the many dead ones in a pile. It is sick, but is fun and funny! Make memories, enjoy life and an occasional childlike attitude. This will keep a person smiling, and much happier.

Bubble Blowing: It is almost impossible to not smile when you see bubbles. Many dogs even love it when their companions are blowing bubbles.

Hula Hoop: On the porch, look to your right, and you see a storage area that contains several Large Hula Hoops, jump ropes, floats, a bike, a slip 'n slide box, an ice chest and several large boxes of Sidewalk Chalk. Outside games and toys

Practice Having Fun: When we are first getting re-started, acting like a child, it takes practice. Fake it until you make it. You will not regret it.

As I child, I could not wait to get older, Being able to drive would empower me in ways my feet did not, so of course I could not wait to turn sixteen.

Then we are so grown up, and decide we are ready to move out, and live on our own. When maturity and wisdom set in, it is apparent to us that we were mistaken on being so ready.

Van Gogh and Sidewalk Chalk

If you ever stop by, for a visit to my house, you'll often notice faded messages, and body outlines. There is new artwork, and old. Another adult problem is worrying about getting the chalk off of the sidewalks. A nice rain will wash those non-toxic hieroglyphics right off, giving a clean slate to draw on.

I keep trying to do a 3-D sidewalk art, but it still looks flat to me. There is a way, and if I keep trying hard enough, I will find it...Color by number maybe?

What To Consider When Deciding To Buy An Adult Coloring Book

There Was A Time I Left My Inner Child Behind

There have been different intervals in my life where for some reasons the inner child had vanished, or just didn't care to play. Had I taken my toys and gone home? It is possible, but rather than making others uncomfortable, or feel bad about their behaviors, I was steeped in misery.

The joy of rediscovering that mischievous imp is such a relief. After living as a grumpy adult for many years, it is invigorating to have discovered that I can still play, and find other nice friends who enjoy these child-like pursuits as much as I do.

Blow Bubbles for Positive Mental Health

In a day when a majority of people are unable to access Mental Health care. It doesn't hurt to find alternative, non-evasive method of self-mental health care.

I find that one of the most stressful places are in traffic jams. To ease my stress while embroiled in traffic, I will pull out the bubble wand and start sending bubbles out.

Many of the others stuck around you in a jam, are angry, and frustrated. Everyone is in a hurry to be on time, most people grow irritable in traffic.

Send a few test bubbles first and hide the bubble blower.

Suddenly - "bloop," bubbles begin floating, causing other motorists to smile reluctantly. The first reaction to random bubbles is a startled concerned look. Then when they spot an adult grinning and blowing bubbles. They can't help but smile. Job Accomplished.

Driving, and navigating traffic is an adult responsibility, and is made doubly so by other whack drivers passing their worries on to you.

Long waits, stopped traffic, jams? Blow bubbles. It makes people wonder what you have been up to. Keep in mind that blowing bubbles while at a stoplight may be illegal, so please check for legality.

Bubbles, bubbles is the answer.

Color, Sidewalk Chalk, Blow Bubbles, and Hula-Hoop

Hula Hoops - The last time I tried to Hula Hoop with my grand-kids, I threw my back out. It made me sad, because I know hula-hooping is a fun and worthy exercise.

It made me think that I just didn't have "It" anymore. Not long ago, I was introduced to the Adult Hula Hoop. I got my Hula and my Hoop back. Oh Yeah!

There is a manufacturer called Giam, and they offer a weighted, cushioned Hula Hoop for workouts. Other than that I found several individuals that make them. For $30.00 or less, a big person can get a Hoop to fit them.

Workout groups are springing up and are using these larger hoops. I saw a belly dancer do a beautiful dance with these. They are fun. The one I picked out, is 44" and it is s-l-o-w.

When I get really good, several hoops can be used at one time. They can be moved from the arms, down the body, to the leg and back. A lot of childlike fun is just waiting to be had.

To make sure we have acting like a child covered; Coloring, Sidewalk Chalk, Bubbles and Hula Hoops. These are four very inexpensive ways to add joy and fun to your life.

Your kids and other younger people will probably give you a hard time at first. Just keep practicing. It will not belong until you start making memories with inexpensive tools, and benefit your wellness too.

Have Fun! Practice at it. Become a fun and big kid, leave that seriousness behind.
