Gypsy's on the Move Again

Updated on January 20, 2012
Source

The bells are ringing

The morning is dawning

Gypsy has left in the night

While fires were burning

through dancing and drinking

she slipped off clean out of sight

She'd been planning and waiting

for one perfect moment

when the New Moon darkened the sky

She had her bags packed

and dreamed of her new life

far from the trains and the strife

The camp was amazed at one of their own

Wanting to leave the fold

when north winds were blowing so cold

but those same voices she heard

had been calling her name

when she followed her will through the snows

in search of a real home

with wooden walls and a fire

and glass on every window

Her lover came in the night

in his shining suit of armor

riding a strong warrior's horse

They would live inside the castle

of the fair righteous king

and try this new way of life of course

Gypsy saw a new adventure

not the death of her freedom

but a new world just opening wide

A wonderful world

where she would live in a house

a be the knight's adoring bride

A dream that she'd had

since she was a child

in the camp, dancing through summertime

But now she thought gladly

It's time for a change

and away in deepest love she did ride.

The camp was moving that day

and rode past the castle

knowing their Gypsy was there

From the gates they saw her watching

and waved goodbye as they passed

everyone turned to stare.

After they'd gone

she strolled down to the road

just to feel the path they made

there she saw the flowers they'd strewn

all over the road

right where they saw her that day.

Note

Friends, Today I move into a new apartment in a new city to start a new job...it's all so exciting and scary at the same time. But, I've had plenty of practice at doing this, so I'm sure I'll be fine in a few days...Take care and talk to you soon! Love, Erin

This poem danced through my mind, your words weaved a picture so clear that i could feel both her Joy and saddness at the massive change she had made.

      Simply beautiful.

Thanks Docmo! This gypsy would really love to stay put for a while...its the wind that carries me. I'm working on finding a way to satisfy that wanderlust while having my home base.:) That's my goal this time! love and hugs, Erin

The wandering songstress captures the move and the nomadic heart so well. the imagery is vivid and beautiful, Erin. Hope you have a wonderful time in your new abode and hope the move isn't too taxing. Best wishes and hugs.

Thanks so much Lesley, no update yet except for all the clearing out going on. I have Purple Heart coming by on Friday to pick up 14 boxes of stuff so far. I'm still buried in boxes except for my bedroom bathroom and some in my living room. I have a few safe zones! Take care my friend. Erin

I think its healthy to want others to move on in search of their needs and desires and goals. I've always supported others in their endeavors, and this time I felt so much support from my family - I do feel truly happy about this move. Thanks so much.

Mck, you are like the soundtrack to my life! Hearing trumpets and all that. Wow. I'm hoping for a new phase, and you've described it just as I feel it..like I've turned over the tarot card that gives me a whole new adventure in life! See you at the cafe!

      Hi Poetvix,

So wonderful to see you! I love the Gypsy moments...its definitely a new opportunity and one I intend to live to the fullest. I feel as though I've gotten another chance at life. And of course, in many ways, I have. Thanks for the warm wishes. Love, Erin

My dear sister, I was so busy with school and details and trying to find a job that the move just stressed me out. Then the night before *POOF* Gypsy flew in! I was waiting for her. I love the gypsy in me, the spirit it brings and perhaps it is she who is helping me now become "untethered" and "light" so that I can be free. Who knows, maybe its my year to learn to dance again? Love you Sister!

      Sweet Genna,

I love new beginnings too! and everything that comes with it. This new beginning landed me face to face with getting rid of my baggage first though - I didn't realize how ready I was to do that. I wish someone could bring a big truck and just haul it all away...I feel a big cleansing coming on! Love to you!

Flowers would be sweet Aunt Gerda!

But who would have thought I should be giving them to you! Thanks for all of your help this weekend. Love you!

Ghaelach, Thanks so much! I'll need all the luck I can get. I'm feeling the stress. Suddenly I'm surrounded by old stagnant energy that was in storage for years...but I'm throwing things away and giving them away to needy people faster than you can shake a stick! It feels good to do that. Take care, Erin

Thanks so much Becky! I'm excited to be starting, but digging my way out of old things, and old energy. Giving lots and lots of stuff away!

A beautiful poem. I love the acceptance and the flowers that were strewn. All of the best with the new chapter in your life. As Genna says: "possibilities. . . "

Oh, this poem I looove…it is imbued with my favorite word, “possibilities.”

      “After they'd gone

she strolled down to the road

just to feel the path they made…”

Possibilities are like the warm scents that fill the air on the seductive breath of spring. New life, new freedoms…a new world. And it couldn’t happen to a better person! I am thrilled to read of your news. Don’t worry about the jitters; they are perfectly normal and are just around to keep us on our toes. Hugs, dear gypsy. :-)
