Halloween Dream
Closed all my doors and locked them tight,
Was too many visitors on Halloween night.
Went to bed just about nine on that evening,
A big old full moon by my window was bright.
Knock after a knock on my wooden front door,
I refused to move, staying put began to snore.
It was then my dream took my thoughts away,
Was darker than night, as trees began to sway.
Refrain:
"Trick-or-treat", I heard, as I was trying to sleep,
Next thing you know I was in and way too deep.
It was Dreamtime that took my free spirit away,
I was flying through the air, all spooks on display.
Goblins on my left side, and ghosties to my right,
All Hallows' Eve now took on a new kind of fright.
Below I saw a graveyard, tombstones everyplace,
Spirits rose and fell, disappeared without a trace.
A creepy looking house sat on the hillside far away,
Bats were flying all about, as a jack-o-lantern did say:
"Welcome to our world of horror, now you must stay,
You are a member of our band, now it's time to play."
Refrain:
"Trick-or-treat", I heard, as I was trying to sleep,
Next thing you know I was in and way too deep.
It was Dreamtime that took my free spirit away,
I was flying through the air, all spooks on display.
Then as I was busy rubbing the sleep from my eyes,
I saw a sight that scared me good, was a big surprise.
A black-hatted witch woman flew around on a broom,
Made me feel just like this was the night of my doom.
She screeched and hollered loud, the wind in her hair,
Was all I could to see this sight, she seemed on a tear,
I tried to duck, hide behind a tree, but was then too late,
Was time to face the music, accept my own worst fate.
Refrain:
Trick-or-treat", I heard as I awakened from my sleep,
Next thing you know, I landed by my bed in a heap.
Dreamtime had brought me back, my spirit was free,
All those spooks had flown away, no more did I see.
It just goes to show you, never take all that fun away,
Halloween only comes just once a year, is here to stay.
Give those kids a happy night to dress up, to pretend,
Those ghouls and goblins are watching you, my friend.
