Happy birthday - a poem for my son who turns seventeen
Time has flowed so speedily by,
You are all of 17 now!
I remember the midnight hour you were born,
So tiny, so perfect, a gift of love!
With an angelic smile you looked at me,
Through those smoky, limpid eyes,
The love that filled my heart just then ,
Keeps growing every day!
My son, I have seen you mature,
Into a beautiful human being,
So full of love and values strong,
And wisdom beyond your years,
You have worked so hard and with clear focus,
Right choices you have made,
You have all my fears allayed!
I know in my heart that your every dream,
Is yours to achieve and hold.
When your fingers touch the keyboard
Divine music flows,
My heart dances to a rhythm,
A rhythm of its own,
When I see you worship, I know that I have done,
My job as a mother and I am proud of you my son!
What more can I ask, What more do I desire?
What more can I aspire?
Over the years we have become good friends,
Not just mother and son,
You know that you are the joy of my life,
Your future is ready to unfold,
The dreaded time has come, so close
You will soon fly away,
Seeking after your plans and dreams,
Which are bursting at the seams.
Will I miss your voice calling “mama” endlessly,
Will I miss the way you pull my cheeks,
And your continual babbling on..
Or how you cannot keep that secret thought,
And divulge your every going on,
Oh! I will miss your silly fights,
Oh yes, I am sure you know,
But I cannot hold you back, I have to let you go.
My blessings are upon your life,
My prayers are always with you,
Its now time to pronounce them upon you ,
May the blessings of the Lord be yours,
May He keep you well,
May His countenance upon you shine,
May His favor always remain,
May His peace dwell within you!
Lots of love from, Mama, Dad and Mark.
