Have you known love - a poem
Have you known love - true love?
Have you known love?
That deep beautiful feeling,
Which pervades your entire being,
Steeps you in it,
Until you submit.
Have you known its power?
To let go and never to take control,
To believe without a doubt,
And to trust inside out!
Have you hurt with love?
Because you are so full of it,
Only wanting to give,
Every bit of it, while you live!
Have you seen love?
It is not a pretty face,
It is aching in the wrinkles,
Of a mother's smiling crinkles!
Have you tasted love?
It is not in the flush of youth,
But in the mellow tenderness,
Of knowing deep truths!
Have you touched love?
Not in melding of naked bodies,
But in the yearnings of the soul,
Spoken in hallowed whispers,
Of faithful worshipers!
Have you known love?
Which never gives up or falls out,
Which never resents or causes pain,
Remains true and does not feign!
Have you inhaled love?
Its breath so innocent,
Fragrantly potent,
Reaching out its hands,
Never withdrawing but expands,
To fit you into,
Its palpitating space, so true!
That is my kind of love,
That is all I know,
In loves warmth I glow!
