He Came For Me

Updated on December 22, 2012

He came not for the angels

They had not the need.

He came not for the vengeful

To fulfill a warrior's creed.

He came not for glory

Nor for riches and fame.

He came for me

A sinner with guilt and shame.

I am not a priest

Knowledgeable in the law.

I am not a leader

A king, a president, or heir.

To some nation or country

A title I do not bear.

I am a lost sheep

I need a shepherd's care.

This is why he came for me

To save a drifting vessel

Tossed by the sea.

I am special in his eyes

A sparrow and a lily fair.

Out of love he paid the ransom

And my soul no longer lost.

Praise God for my Savior

Who gave it all at the cross.

This is a lovely poem - He came for you and for me, and for all mankind. We have so much to celebrate and to be thankful for at Christmas time.
