Hello...My Name is...
I heard tonight that the main street in Galway City was cobbled the wrong way! The cobblestone was brought in from China, and the Galwegian Stonemasons put it in upside down....
I hail from a place called 'Achill Island'...it's an Island off the coast of County Mayo...off the west coast of Ireland...It's a fantastic place to visit in the summer...in the wintertime you're less lucky...the last time a storm hit the island, the tourist centre blew over in the storm...it was a caravan....it's last known whereabouts are somewhere in the Atlantic ocean...
I grew up listening to The Doors...The Smiths...Led Zeppelin...Metallica...Blur...
I currently listen to...Frank Zappa...Tom Waits...blah blah...
Wrestle-mania rocked when I was a kid...30 years on...it still rocks...
Every morning...when I was a kid...a donkey across the road was my wake up alarm for school...the poor oul donkey died about a year after I left school...around the year 2001...I would like to say that I fed the donkey apples every morning before school...but I was always late for school...
I hated school man...
I moved to England when I was 17...wanting to be a rock-star...against the tearful wishes of my mum...I moved back to Ireland when I was 20...with regrets...and great memories...and enough ketamin in my blood stream to knock out 20 horses...
I should have never moved to England when I was 17....
Never doubt your mum...whoever you are...She's more rock and roll than you'll ever wish to be...plus your dad for that matter...I'm very thankful to have parents with a rock n' roll-esque mentality...as I creep up on the age of the big 3.0. ...no matter where I am...my parents are always rocking out on a Saturday night...as my lil' sister said to me one night on the phone..'I got to mum and dad's house at 3 o' clock in the morning...I made a cup of tea and I watched the telly...mum and dad came crashing through the door at around half 6...in the morning...laughing and singing songs...'
I have an extremely eclectic DVD collection...
If anybody asks me where I live...I always say...The posh house on Paper Street...
My house is a red brick house...just off the Dublin road as you arrive into Galway city...I pay rent for my room...the rest of the house is derelict and empty...It's a great place to have...my room is the old living room...the rest of the house glows in the dark when you switch off the lights...the telly works in the living room and the cooker works...the 3 bedrooms I leave empty....and the electric shower only works when you switch on a fuse...plus you have to chase Jehovah witnesses away in your dressing gown...waving a broom around...with a cigarette in your mouth....
And no...in case any of you are wondering...I'm not the Irish equivalent of Tyler Durden....
And for those of you who think I am...I want you to hit me...as hard as you can....
I have a knack of knowing the release date of any year a film was made....especially from the 1970's to the 1990's...I like to call it a 'Rain Man' kind of talent but I saw a documentary about the real 'Rain Man' Kim Peek,..Kim Peek...that dude could name a calender day from June 1921...and then tell you the reason behind Beethoven's fifth...and link it to Churchill's speech...V for Victory....
I want to be a writer....it's not my passion...it's just who I am...I am getting published soon, a short story of mine shall be making it's presence in a book of short stories in the good ol' U...S...of...A...=)
I am also hoping to get a job as a screenwriter on a TV show soon...I just have to stay positive about that...
I want to visit America some time soon...and Mexico for that matter...the city for that matter.....the thought of tequila shots and Latinas in red dresses dancing in dark red alleyways and bourbon dripping like sweat off soft warm golden skin and night long parties and culture and spicy food and history and stories and beautiful girls asking you 'where are you from' and bullet's pinging around your head...and having it as a bad memory as you wake up hungover in a jail cell...appeals to me for some reason...and it's not because I'm Irish...in that respect the Irish are much wilder than a lot of nationalities...maybe that's why Mexico appeals to the Irish,,,more importantly...to me...maybe Mexico City is a different place altogether....
i have fallen in love...twice...no...wait... 3 times...in my life...
Those women have shaped and changed my course in life...twice in a good way...in the best way possible... the other time just proved to me why friends are an important factor in ones life...if it wasn't for them I'd still be in my pajamas...stinking up my couch...her face embedded in my thoughts...while I ate junk food and watched re-runs of 'Breaking Bad'...
This is my favorite song...It's Robert Plant's ode to an old flame, ten years after breaking up...it just goes to show...sometimes you have to follow your gut...Robert Plant could have easily picked her over the music...if that was the case...Led Zeppelin would never have existed...think about that...
