How to overcome Writers Block and Write Great Hubs

Updated on March 14, 2011

When I first joined hubpages, my intent was to use it to publicize my novel - Antiquity Calais: Standing at Armageddon. However, once I realized that the best way to get a high hub score is to generate lots of traffic, I decided to diversify somewhat. One of the ways I have done that is what I am doing right now. I routinely check to see hub requests fellow hubbers have made, and write about the ones I know about, or at least have an opinion about. With all these great ideas floating around, writer's block has not been an issue with me. In the past, when I have had writer's block, it's been because I didn't have an idea. Once I developed an idea, it was easy to start writing. So that would be my suggestion. Visit the requested hubs link, and even better, click on the link about hubs that are recommended for you, based upon your interests.

Happy Hubbing!

Ms Design - I've got to say that I have a handful of hubs that are doing exceedingly well, and a whole lot that get very little traffic. The hubs that are doing well are about subjects that people really get into, such as a Soldier's Prayer. Curiously, one of the other hubs that gets a lot of traffic investigates the question which is better, in terms of cleanliness, taking a shower or a bath.

As I review the stats for these hubs, and others, I notice that most of the traffic coming to them is coming from Google, not hubpages. So it seems to me that the tags you choose can have a significant effect on traffic.

I hope this is helpful. Thanks for the question!

Trsmd and Jim, what advice can you give new Hubbers to get traffic beside good content?

Toby - That's interesting. Do you recall what you used for search terms when you found my hub?

Trsmd - I feel like I've been getting pretty good traffic of late, though this page is kind of slow. Of course, it's new, so it could take a bit.

I have found this to be true as well. Writing seems to foster more writing. Thanks for sharing your experience!
