Hubber Crush

Updated on June 9, 2011

The Author of My Affection

I am in love with your words, they are like food to me
Hungrily I open your latest
I take delight in every line
Some, I lap up like like a thirsty kitten
Some, I savor, sucking the flavor from them
Tasting their meanings, rolling the nuances around on my tongue

Your skill and creativity inspire me
Each composition so sensitive, elegant and thoughtful
I am learning and I am laughing when I am reading you
Your mind is a beautiful intriguing thing
Your avatar, your sex, your proximity do not matter
When I have you here on the page, you are mine and I am bewitched

To be the focal point of your quill would be heaven
And to be your muse, sublime
If only you could find inspiration in my eyes
I’d sit at your feet while your fingers dance across the keyboard
I would wait attentively for your finished prose
And I would scatter your words across my bed and roll naked in them

I'm on my way out when this caught my eye. Anyway this is not so me. (I'm more known for my poetry and not so funny prose). Which kinda disappoints. But thanks for the "tell tale signs", I got it figured out and I say this author/hubber is the object of many a wannabee-muse :D

Wow, Randy.  So who is it?  You can tell me.  I'm your friend.  Since "sensitive, elegant and thoughtful" kind of eliminates me (darn it), I may as well suffer by knowing the true identity of the lucky f***er!  Spill!

Ah but you are the focal point of my quill darling, and I'm sure your eyes would inspire me, but, alas, they are hidden. ;) (Couldn't resist! Sorry!) :D

Seriously, this is beautiful, and I also get intoxicated by words. Just the other night my kids were asking me, "Mom why are you rolling naked in all those words?" <sigh> I can only hope that they will one day understand the sensuality of skillfully written prose. ;)

      Well done Randy. :)

      Lovely.

I have to admit, Pest is quite attractive.

The choice of avatar is interesting, is it not? Like a hat, or clothing - something to hang one's identity upon. They parade across the front page, and the ones whom you've chosen parade across your welcome page. I always look for who's there with a sense of anticipation.

Stir it up Elena? Who me? Never.

Pam, I should have used that "intoxicated by your words" Yours get me a little tipsy some times. ;)

    • ajcor profile image

RB - so sensuous - all that lapping, laughing, learning,  sucking, savouring was quite breath taking but your final line was a stunner when you re-focused your poem from general to personal with "And I would scatter your words across my bed and roll naked in them" - thanks for this - clever stuff - cheers

    • Randy Behavior profile image
      Author

Randy Behavior 8 years ago from Near the Ocean

ajcor, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sucking is actually the word I agonized over the most. Its a loud, powerful, in your face, word to me. I almost didn't use it. But some how rolling around naked didn't make me bat an eye. Go figure.

    • ajcor profile image

ajcor 8 years ago from NSW. Australia

yep i think sucking and savouring are such powerful words and they caught my attention - raw really - glad you were brave - cheers

    • Randy Behavior profile image
      Author

Randy Behavior 8 years ago from Near the Ocean

ajcor its funny how different words effect us differently. For me savoring is a gentle sensual word. So whoever is reading a piece is gonna bring their beliefs to it and kinda change it. In that way one author could be really strong for one reader and not another I guess. You have to meld in a way. :)

    • ajcor profile image

ajcor 8 years ago from NSW. Australia

I think you're right RB about word usage and the individual's belief system influencing the way a piece can be read and interpreted by the reader , but I also think meanings can change, be enriched for example, dependant on what words they are used with - placed near - it's all good....would you mind if I put your poem onto my hub poet's page? cheers

My first guess was Pest, too. But the more I reread the original hub, the more I think it is deliberately evasive (read: evocative). It could be one person or it could be a compilation of hubbers.

It doesn't even matter who the object of affection is. This is a brilliant hub, RB. In fact, it deserves its own phrase (similar to ROFLMAO)

    • Randy Behavior profile image
      Author

"Watch it wiggle, see it jiggle," Jell-O is the trade mark name here, but has taken over as the "name." We would properly call it gelatin but wouldn't serve it with ice cream, we'd serve it with whip cream :) We should have a hubber's pot-luck!

    • Christoph Reilly profile image

Christoph Reilly 7 years ago from St. Louis

Here, Jam has fruit in it and jelly doesn't and it comes in little jars for spreading on toast and biscuits. Jell-O uses gelatin and is made in a bowl or individual cups/glasses and can have fruit in it, and you can layer different colors. It holds together and jiggles. I looked up British jelly, and it is what we call jell-o (which is a brand name, so we call all that stuff made with gelatin, jell-o, even if it is not made from the stuff that comes from the box labeled, Jell-O.)

      Try this jell-o website: http://brands.kraftfoods.com/jello/products/gelati...

I love the love expressed for the written word which I share. I am not so randy as you but remember scattering my alphabet blocks across my bed and rolling naked on them when I was about four.I was so happy to know the alphabet but the blocks were wooden and jagged. Some writers still use those blocks.
