I Love Cars

Updated on April 25, 2011

They seem
More aggressive this year
Engine revving
Beside me

Mass of metal
Speeding by
Like a very large bullet
Anger in the rumble
Toxicity in the smell

I no longer judge them
I have been angry
Frustration
Looking for a target

What better than
A cyclist
In tights and
High visibility
Jacket
On what basically is
An onramp so

If the car horn screams
Shiny metal
Death streaks
Past me at a light

I am not perturbed
Not angry
I am present

And though you curse me
I love you
Because you are me

And I love me
Even when I
Am in the rotary

Sometimes
As I see you go
Angrily by
I wish
You could
Have what I have
This road intimacy
This raw velocity
The wind and sweat

Tell you a
Secret

Sometimes
When it’s raining
And I have a flat
I wish I was you
