I can't take it no more! ( poem )

Why did you cause me so much pain,

with your disgusted looks I hid in shame.

Your true colors came shinning through,

Purple and red to name a few.

You’re twisted, distorted yet brittle inside,

nothing can change you, God knows I’ve tried.

I have no choice now, but to cut you out,

Please pull out quickly, before I shout.

A new one will replace you and we’ll start a new tale,

hopefully this new one won’t be another ingrown toenail!

I found my inspiration for this twisted tale while recuperating after having my big toenail removed yesterday due to a 'Pincer' nail. I know it's silly but that's what decent pain medicine can do to a person.

      Hey, wildove!

I had to laugh. Been there, done that. Mine was in the late fall. Could not wear shoes through the winter. And, this took place before we started spending winters in FL. So, I ran around most of the winter in flip flops.

Glad that you got some good pain meds.

Now, go out and find some lovely flip flops for spring and summer.

      Great Poem!! And, good luck!!

      DJ.

Nice twist...I hated to laugh but I did. You know, of course, that you are suggesting we all turn to prescription drugs for our inspiration. LOL

Thanks Dj,I'm glad I made you laugh! I had to wear slippers to my barber shop today, but unfortunately I can't wear them to the restaurant I work at. So I hope to be able to put on a regular shoe by Saturday!

Cat, I was actually thinking of him as I wrote this, I like how he twists his poems, it reminded me of his rock and dew poem! I'm glad you enjoyed it and it made you laugh!

Thank you gypsy, glad you enjoyed it. I will say I am quite comfortable in my socks. Shoes on the other hand are extremely difficult, particularly my work shoes!

Plumber, I giggled through the pain the whole time I worked on this. One of my favorite poets on Hub pages inspired me to put the twist on this piece. You should check him out.

Epigramman, He has been Hub pages poet of the year for two years in a row, once you read his work, you'll know why!

      Thanks for the read!

Wow my beautiful and delightful poetic Dove you really captured my fancy with this fabulous piece and you 'got me' with the last couple of lines too - definitely epi-man territory here, lol, and I am so impressed by your wit, your good humor and your awesome status as a poetic chameleon - hubbravo from Colin - this one was so good and yes I too just woke up from night shift sleep and I am sending you sincere good wishes from Colin and his cats who lay out on our deck in this early summer in Canada for us at lake erie time 1:10pm with first cup of coffee and some nice classical piano music and everything is growing now and it's so green and lovely ...... well, lovely like you!

Colin, as I sat before my key board to type this little poem I thought of you. I like how some of your poems have the reader thinking they are heading in one direction and then in the end they are completely surprised by where they end up. You are my inspiration, I only wish I had an ounce of your imagination and talent! Please, tell me you have published your works. If not, I urge you to! Thank you again for your kind words and stopping by to read my meager hubs! LOL

That sounds painful. They must have been really good pain meds.
