Idle Eyes Have the Driest Cries
I'm still on the fence with this poem. I don't really know how I feel about it, so I thought I'd post it to see what everyone else thought.
Idle Eyes Have the Driest Cries
By: Marvin James
Obviously I’ve done something
Something to hurt you,
Something to make you hate me
Does this not hurt you,
Or is this to hurt me
Funny, verbal abuse
Because I’m homosexual or jew
Or am I a negro to you
Either way its true
You hate me don’t you
If we approach on a street
You’d cross it won’t you
Walk faster as if I’d hunt you
But I’ve done nothing to you
You must hate me don’t you
You idly stand while they beat and abuse
Look in my eyes with your innocent lies
Like your better than them
Its not your business, so you leave it to them
You do not know me so you assume that we're friends
So you feel nothing
That must be the cause
You shed not a tear
It does not hurt you at all?
You’re as bad as the bullies
To stand there and watch
Your heart must be frost
Bitter and lost
To change the cruel world
We must fight every war
But until they shed tears
There will be no need for battle
You must feel nothing at all
You’re numb to the world
So you don’t hate me
At first like I thought
It must be your self
That you fight in the dark
