If I Died Tomorrow

Updated on December 8, 2011

If I died tomorrow, would you cry?

If you knew that "see you later" would be our last goodbye.

Remember when you saw me today but didn't say hi.

If I died tomorrow, would you cry?

If I died tomorrow, would you mourn for me?

Because I was so young, and I never got to be the man I wanted to be.

That I just told her yesterday how much I loved her

That I couldn't live long enough to get to be a father,

And show my own dad how to fufill that role.

Instead my body is in a coffin, being lowered into a hole.

My dreams gone and presence wiped away.

I will never get to live another day.

My life taken from Earth, no more Irell Vincent Lee.

If I died tomorrow, would you mourn for me?

If I died tomorrow, would you do the things I was meant to do?

Take care of my family, protect and defend.

Inspire my sister, be a big brother and a friend.

How would you deal with never seeing me again?

Could you cope? Or would you collapse and give in.

Or carry on, fufill my dreams, let me live on through you.

If I died tomorrow, would you do the things I was meant to do?

If I died tomorrow, how different would you life be?

Better or worse?

Take a second to think... Am I a blessing or a curse?

Be honest because regret sticks in the mind like glue.

You'd either remember or forget me.

If I died tomorrow, how different would your life be?

If my life was taken tomorrow what would you do?

Better yet, if you had a choice,

Would you be the killer or would you choose to take the bullet? Like I'd do for you.

This is deep.... I honestly teared up. I can relate to this poem so much. There have been a couple deaths in my family recently and it has changed my whole life. Keep on writing and living!
