If I Compared Thee to a Single Word
If I compared thee to a winter's moon,
Would you wax and wane and set to soon.
If I compared thee to a summer's day,
Would you shine so bright come out to play.
If I compared thee to an autumn shower,
Would you run like a river or drowned like a flower.
If I compared thee to a starlit night,
Would you twinkle in view or out of sight.
If I compared thee to a truth so long,
Would you create a full stop and prove me wrong.
If I compared thee to a fanciful tapestry,
Would you create a picture for me to see.
If I compared thee to a breeze that's subtle,
Would you twist and turn like leaves that rustle.
If I compared thee to a lasting smile,
Would you remain on my lips for a while.
If I compared thee to stormy weather,
Would you rain on my parade maybe forever.
If I compared thee to a piece of gold,
Would you remain in my hand for me to hold
If I compared thee to a moment of wonder,
Would you remain toward me any fonder.
If I compared thee to a diamond ring,
Would you glitter and sparkle like expensive bling.
If I compared thee to an act of pleasure,
Would you wrap yourself around me like some exotic treasure.
If I compared thee to a page of lines,
Would you reveal unto me a romantic rhyme.
If I compared thee to a single word,
Would you say to me I'm being absurd.
