If only we could have made [ you ] laugh. A tribute to Robin Williams

Updated on August 15, 2014

If only we could have made [ you ] laugh,

you would have never felt the depths of despair,

nor ever doubted your presence here.

If only we could have made [ you ] laugh,

You would have known how much you had meant to many,

Family, friends and fans, there are plenty.

If only we could have made [ you ] laugh,

Your suffering and pain here would not have last,

We'd have embraced you till the storm had passed.

If only we could have made [ you ] laugh,

The darkness in your soul would have never hurt you in this way,

Forever in our hearts, your memory will stay.

But if only WE could have made [ you ] laugh.

Thank you all, I have hardly written a thing since moving to Florida last November, nor have I read much! My emotions have always fueled my passion for writing, it's unfortunate that such tragedies can sometimes open the urge to write! Thanks again folks! Much appreciated!

      Good Morning ,Vietnam

      Good-bye Robbin

I couldn't find words better than President Barack Obama's statement sent from the White House summed it up:

"Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bangarang Peter Pan, and everything in between. But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien -- but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most -- from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets."

      Voted up!

Such wise words spoken here in this beautiful tribute to Robin Williams. Yes, did we have a responsibility to make HIM laugh instead of relying on hub to entertain us. You are so astute to look a his suicide in this way. What did we do to contribute to his depression? Could we have alleviated some of his darkness within. Excellent poem. Voted up and shared!

So good to see a posting here from you.

Robin Williams brought much joy and laughter to us. He made the

world a better place. He will be sorely missed.

Yes Wildove, if only we could have made him laugh. So sad, he was a wonderful man. Nice tribute.
