If the Sky Was Love!!

Updated on March 31, 2011

Can you imagine
If the sky was love
we could look at it all day
and be showered from above.

When it rained
or it snowed
we'd be drenched with it's goodness
and how it would show in each of us.

When the sun is shining
and it;s so very hot
we'd be baked with love
believe it or not.

Then there would not be war
or grumpy people.
There would not be hate
we'd shout love from the steeples.

We would look at each other
and laugh or we'd smile,
from that tingly feeling
that would bubble for miles.

There would be much more hugs
many more eager ears to listen,
there would not be so many tears
on our cheeks to glisten.

But all that aside,
because we know it's not true,
love doesn't fall from the sky
it comes from inside and as delicate as
the morning dew.

Loves a tricky thing
it grabs us inside
and wells up in our hearts
sometimes til we cry.

Sometimes it hurts
sometimes it's hard
but the world without love
would be worse by far.

We fall in love,
then there's love at first sight,
there's love of family
and then the love that makes us want to fight.

Fight each other,
fighting wars,
fighting for what we want,
fighting for the stars
that we cannot own
or hold in our hands
but we will fight to the end
and make a stand.

So I say to you
just pretend for one day
that love comes from the sky
in a powerful way.

Let it soak you and
drench you,
just take it all in,
let it fill you
and hold you
till all you can do is grin.

Then turn to your loved one
and say those sweet words,
'I love You with all my heart'
and mean them from the very depths
of your soul and being,
as we all know love is a powerful thing.

We look for love
in all the wrong places
in all the wrong hearts
in all the wrong faces.

Sometimes we need look
at what's right there to see,
true love is in the face
of just you and me.

ahorseback I never thought of it as soulful insight but I guess you are right. Sometimes my soul just cries out to the universe and I have to write it down. It is nice to know that I am missed. Sometimes I think that writing is the best part of me I just wish that I could get the words out of my mouth to tell people what my heart feels. Thank you for stopping in and reading and for your nice comment!

Just find one word and start from there, singlemom, I am a builder and thats how we build anything, one board at a time. One nail at a time . The more complicated it looks the simpler it is. Be well.

You are so right but sometimes saying the words is very scary, I believe that words can change the course of a life. Writing is my voice, my inner me, who I really am. How does one break a lifetime habit?? And I don't mean saying things in anger but saying those things that are hidden in the softness of my heart.

singlmomat52, this poem is great, thanks for sharing your wonderful talent! I think that love comes from within AND without; your beautiful poem is an example of that. I would like to think that Love does come from the sky, and that since the air we breathe is a part of that sky, we have access to that life-sustaining love both outdoors and indoors. Additionally, love also is already an innate part of us, but one that is quite selective in its graciousness, unlike the sky, which is given to all.

Love, which can be expressed in many ways, is also like a big pizza-pie, where we first receive the fundament, then we embellish it with selected wonderful and delicious toppings, and then share it with those around us. This is the critical part of love -- like air, we can not keep it and hold our breath, we must exhale and return it to the sky in order to survive -- and if we keep all the pizza to ourselves, we get too big for our own good:).

Thank you Timothy, yes you are right we should share it and many do but some seem not to have love in them and I think that is sad. Sometimes I think I love to much but then I wouldn't have it anyother way. Thank you for reading my Hub and for your great comment.

That was awesome! And I wish it was true. It would be a lot easier to love all the stinking snow that we get! Lol. This is a great poem.
