I'm Hopelessly In Love With You (Poetry)

Updated on July 9, 2012
Source

Can I be a hopeless fool

When I’m hopelessly in love with you?

If I hope against hope for your love

Will my hopeful wishes come true?

The doubter in me says “No”

The dreamer in me says “Why not?”

The cynic in me says “Does it matter?”

And the gambler in me says

“Just give it a shot.”

Torn between a hundred places,

I’m falling to pieces trying to decide,

But my thoughts aren’t falling into place,

And these broken pieces

Are getting harder to hide.

Can I be a hopeless fool?

I fear the worst has already come true.

But no matter my fears

One truth still remains

And that truth is

I’m hopelessly in love with you.

Thank you, Love can be quite agonizing it when we can't give it to the ones we love.

I can't thank you enough for sharing this well written poem from the heart. The ryming and flow are amazing. Lucky, the person who it was written for.

Just give it a shot! You'll never know until you take that leap of faith. If you don't, then that person will always be the what if.. Nice poem

      I definitely love this stanza:

The doubter in me says “No”

The dreamer in me says “Why not?”

The cynic in me says “Does it matter?”

And the gambler in me says

      “Just give it a shot.”

And I also like the same stanza most as unknown spy does, I like what you did with it. Very creative. bah.. love.. it's hopeless. But don't take my pessimistic side of things, to each their own paths to take. I'm sure there's at least 20% of the original married people still around, somewhere. lol Best of luck if this is about you... but seems a touch pessimistic, while hopeful at the other side of the spectrum. As for me, I don't always write about "me", so that's why I say if it's about you. I wish others realized writers don't always write about themselves.. gets a touch annoying getting comments like that. Nice, true to heart poem which explores the true realms of the heart (something most people aren't willing to admit).. especially if the significant other can read it lol.
