Can I be a hopeless fool

When I’m hopelessly in love with you?

If I hope against hope for your love

Will my hopeful wishes come true?

The doubter in me says “No”

The dreamer in me says “Why not?”

The cynic in me says “Does it matter?”

And the gambler in me says

“Just give it a shot.”

Torn between a hundred places,

I’m falling to pieces trying to decide,

But my thoughts aren’t falling into place,

And these broken pieces

Are getting harder to hide.

Can I be a hopeless fool?

I fear the worst has already come true.

But no matter my fears

One truth still remains

And that truth is

I’m hopelessly in love with you.
