So, dust off your inner child. Let your imagination come out and play. You'll be amazed at how creative you can be when you bring reintroduce your imagination to your creativity.

How to Get Your Imagination Moving

  • Read, read, and read some more. You can't read too much. To help you get your imagination going read any type of book you can get your hands on.
  • Try to be unique. Try to be a good person, doing good things. Think of how you can help someone, find a new way to work, a new way to compliment someone, or even a new way to let someone know you care.
  • Take lots and lots of pictures. They don't have to be of anything in particular. They can be of anything that comes into your line of sight. Then, let your mind wander as you look at these pictures.
  • Keep a small notebook or notepad with you at all times. Any time something starts you thinking write what it was. Any off the wall impression or description. Write it down.
  • Allow yourself to dream. As Walt Disney said. "If you can dream it, you can achieve it."
  • Invite your inner child to come out and play with your creativity. As children we have tremendous imagination. Bring it out of hiding and allow it to help you add life to your creativity. You won't be sorry.

Delores Monet I also agree with Sweetie Pie. I think children are not encouraged to use their imagination and creativity.

I agree with Sweetie Pie up there, but think the parents must encourage creativity too. Free play is a great way to get kids to think for themselves and to dream up all kinds of creative projects. So many kids today are either plopped in front of the electronic screen, or engaged in organized activities.

This is so wonderfully written with the rich detail I have so appreciated when I read your articles. Sometimes we need to believe more in achieving the dreams we feel is so far from our grasp.

This is so positive and uplifting message. Thank you.

I think schools need to get back to encouraging kids to do more art, and write creative stories. I learned so much when I was a kid because I had the freedom to explore books, and create pictures based on my visions. Today the common core curriculum allows very little room for creativity, and I have talked to many teachers who see their children struggling with this. I would encourage parents to let their children read and create art outside of school because unfortunately, these are just not things kids get enough of these days.

What would life be without imagination and creativity. I know mine would be very boring. These two important characteristics are what bring things to life and give our lives meaning. Thanks for the great article and the great quotes. I agree with DREAM ON, that this should be on every student's desk.

Great hubs and great quotes. I only disagree with one of them: "if you can dream it, you can achieve it". I always dream about winning the lottery, but have yet to achieve that one. L.O.L.

      Great writing.

I don't know Mel Carriere. I think sometimes a wild imagination makes a writer special. I do believe, as you do, that success does come from having a mature imagination though.

Very great quotes from people I respect. The key to the conventional definition of success, I think, is learning how to discipline that wild imagination. Great hub!

I believe this should be on every child's desk to read every day so they are reminded to keep an open mind and let their imagination soar.Creativity starts small and where it ends is impossible to know. We have such wonderful gifts to give all we have to do is learn to share. This is my favorite topic your hub says it all. Thank you for sharing.

Simply put? Don't grow up, and you'll have LOTS of imagination. Adulthood spoils everything.
