Underserved Love
Let me tell you what’s in my heart
Those things that bear down upon me
And never give me peace
Of guilt and worry
That I do not deserve the purest form of your deepest love
Of dread that one day you shall pay
For this feeling for one another and be most dismayed
At how it could all have come to this.
Let me tell you what’s in my heart
O lover of life and giver of all
I cannot hope but for you to find
A worthy soul for all the gifts
That you can so wonderfully bestow
And for that worthy soul to see what I see;
A majestic man who can love with infinite capacity
A being who could melt the heart of any woman of worth
if he so much as bestowed half his love upon her
A gentleman who could do no harm
But who knows how to love completely
A worthy and challenging feat for most
But not for Him who is blessed.
And a soul who can reach out from afar
To another without as much as a caress,
And yet who can touch and be touched
As though by magical means
Those who seek that purest of love
So very rare as to scare the feint hearted
Those who want to know the depth of love
So often elusive but well regarded,
Those who wish for a mate for life
Such dedication and loyalty
Difficult to see in the mist of life,
And yet his natural love holds the promise of all these things
And can give that and more to one who is worthy
And would dare call out to him in her dreams.
