My #5 for National Poetry Month

1.

i celebrate the you i find

in the ground of things,

in that space between earth and sky

where anything can happen.

2.

"love is present when we ask,"

you said to me.

i think it was spring.

the phone rang

and it was your voice.

i reached out my hand

and felt you across miles.

3.

rebirth is not the painless stuff

of stories wrought by poets.

it is the painful pushing

toward light.

only those who must, will.

I particularly enjoy the imagery of "painful pushing toward light." Well done.

Thank you Jay! I am so glad that you enjoyed this one--and you raise an interesting question---I think it might depend on how you view the nature of such an experience

People always ask me how I'm capable of writing so many stories and articles during a week. I feel the same way about your poetry. How are you able to deliver time and time again with such high quality?

Happy Easter, Audrey. This is wonderful, that space between earth and sky. So much available to us all if only we look and rebirth if we so chose. Lovely poem and thoughts.

The first person I think of with the onset of National Poetry Month is Audrey Howitt, and my anticipation of reading her fine poetry. I am such a fan. :-)

Audrey, each poem is amazing, but this is incredible. The first stanza reminded me of opening up a favorite book of poems and been drawn into to awe and mystery of the words on the first page. Happy Easter! Jamie

Hi ArtDiva! Sometimes it happens, sometimes I sit with a notebook in front of me for a looong time and nothing really comes out--I am always grateful when it flows--Happy holiday to you!

On this Easter Sunday I wonder whether a Near Death Experience NDE could be considered a resurrection?

I don't know how you keep doing this. Is it something in the water? Another nice bit of poetry to push through the light of day.
