Infected by Neon: Song Lyrics
These are lyrics to a song I started writing years ago regarding my time living in Las Vegas. It’s different from my other poetry in that it rhymes and as written specifically to be set to music. Unlike much of my work, I don't intend to pursue publication for this piece beyond this page, unless I end up playing music again.
I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for reading!
"Infected by Neon"

Las Vegas
A city of sin and temptation
So many lights, so little illumination
A perfect image of human imperfection
I am one afflicted by this neon infection
I threw my dice against the wall
and raised my arms in triumph
(This cannot last. this will not last)
Threw them again
and bowed my head in shame
(it's all going downhill fast!)
This neon infection consumes me
Oh how it deflates me and consumes me
This neon infection empties me
Las Vegas
The city which lead to my destruction
Churches galore in a city of corruption
Wedding chapels inside halls of fornication
My life delayed by my humiliation
I tossed my cards atop the felt
and said read ‘em and weep
(this cannot last. this will not last)
Tossed them again and left with nothing
(it's all going downhill fast)
This neon infection consumes me
Oh how it deflates me and consumes me
This neon infection leaves me empty
