we are just so many interlocking pieces
our edges planed to touch and nestle
our shared vision
a glistening upon an even surface
but every once in a while
which should fit
perhaps overeager fingers
pushing and pulling in search of sky.
by wholes or halves
until its nub
is rubbed clean.
