A poem about feeling invisible
Every feel invisible?
I bet you have. Whether it's at a party with peers, at home, or in the workplace, it's not a good feeling. Do you silently scream, wishing your voice were heard? Do you huddle in on yourself as if in a corner? Or do you burst out into the open and try to make yourself known?
I am particularly proud of this one. An imagist poem, I have made it so that the first letter of each line ends up spelling "invisible" from bottom to top. Backwards! It's as if the acronym can't be seen...
Invisible
even when I smile,
let my lips quirk.
Believe me—I’ve tried.
I’ve overcome how I
sometimes don’t speak.
It’s not enough.
Visibility?
Nobody truly knows what
it means.
