Is It Rain Or Is It Fear ?
It Is Both
As the rain quietly tickles outside the window
Like a boy does to his younger brother to make him laugh
For no apparent reason except to share in each others joy
The ground soon covered by the wetness
Transforming a sunny day to something different
Where animals go in hiding
Insects go for cover
As pools of water accumulate
Like stacks of money at the bank
Each just a precious as the next
Carefully counted for and clearly noticed
Sounds of water splashing under the tires of a passing car
The driver driving too fast not realizing how lucky he is
Taking the corner a little too wide
Racing to go to work because he is running late
Is it fate that will change his life forever
Or is it luck that he regains control and slows down and thinks
Of what could of been ?
He goes on with his day without a scratch
His fears quickly disappate in the morning sun
The rain that once graced out deck with little rain drops from all directions
Beating against the wood
Then disappearing through the cracks
A rain that once touched everyone and everything for miles
Now has gone back in hiding
Until next time when we listen and we hear
A noise so familiar like the water running in our kitchen sink
Or the heavy and loud sounds of water spraying in the shower
We know it so well and use it to our advantage
Why is the water outside any different ?
That waters all the living plants and trees under the sky
Making today noisier than others
Sounds of thunder in the distance
Ringing out without notice
Showing how power and fear come together
With every bang
The trees droopy leaves
Pressed down upon with great force
I sit safe inside and watch nature calmness and fury
Only to be just a little bit leary
