we are told we are equal

and perhaps that is true

but perspective plays a part

in all the things we do

there is no absolute truth

within this life for me

it is all about the vantage point

from which i peer out

it is about what I see

when the light is just right

when I sit long enough

I am able to see things

. . . .differently

and as I move from rhyme to free

you will see a dissembling of the perspective

from which I write

look again at the words I choose

and as meter

pings

and jostles its way

it is as if the cabbages on my head

take root in the tree

. . . . . . .

In this silly verse, I move from organized meter in the first stanza to a more chaotic sense of form and idea. Just playing with perspective.

I loved this. What I often find disarming and intriguing about rhyme are those gems that often rest just beneath the surface. Voted waaay up and beyond, and shared. :-)

Whatever pops in your head is poetic. Equality differs with the disadvantaged vantage point. Cheers.....

      Well said and done.

My 'pespective', (smile), is that you did not need the last two lines of explanation. They were already said before I got there. Shalom

This reminds me of the song "Word Play" by Jason Mraz. Check it out and you'll see why I think. Well done as always.

Great idea to play with meter in such a way, it adds so many wonderful dimensions. Good job. Jamie
