Lady Annie, A Poem

I have just received a message today from my beautiful Irish friend Aoife. A sad message about the death of a very kind woman whom I met in Ireland. A woman whom I learned to love and care. A woman whom I treasured as a Lady. A Lady who will be miss not only by me but by her children, grandchildren, friends and neighbours. Here´s to you Annie. I know, you will be in heaven watching over us.

Lady Annie

The first time

We met each other

We didn´t know

How we talked

To one another.

You were so reluctant

Never knew what

To think of me

You were so shy

Not knowing what

To say.

Days and weeks passed by

We became good friends

We talked and laughed

About the hundreds of birds

Resting on the grass

Of your garden.

You were standing at the window

Watching the birds for me

With joyful eyes

Brighter smiles

While I went across the streets

To get my camera for our feasts.

Do you still remember the time

When I washed your hair

And you really have to bend down

On the sink for me to reached

Your forehead?

We laughed so loud

With tears in our eyes

Our tummys aching

From the joy

And happiness

That we had shared.

You know Lady Annie

In a way

You remind me

Of my granny

Who passed away

When I was in another country.

Every time I met you

I prepared something to pamper you

Massage your hands or feet

Washed and combed your hair

Manicured or pedicured you

I loved it when you were happy.

I´m sorry I have left you

We were both sad

We cried together

When we said goodbye

But I had to go.

The laughter we had shared

Every time we met

Will always be with me

Forever will be in my heart

I´m glad to have met you.
