Le bateau de la mort

Updated on August 15, 2017

Le bateau de la mort

I set my chest against the squall and whisper one lament
Shadows from the depths welcome my direful descent
A chiliad of faces masquerade before me obscured
A sinfonietta of waves perform my final dirge—

A aureole of memory unrelenting repine
Billowing waves my life's retribution supine
Is this a dream or another verity unfurling?
I reach into the crevasse searching—

The hulk above me offers no escape
My lungs fill with sand then abruptly I awake
A valley lies below dancing smoke opaque
Euphony of voices whispers my name—

Le bateau de la mort
I am the ship of death
I am here to escort you
To your final rest—
Le bateau de la mort
The mistral cold offers no repose
I'll take you to your final abode—
My keel spills with regret
Le bateau de la mort
I am the ship of death

Such a marvelous poem about fantasy. I really enjoyed this. I look forward to reading more of your works.
