Let's Go Our Separate Ways (Poems)

When is it time to walk away?

When our fighting carries on every day.

When the two of us have nothing to say.

How about, when our children

Are too busy crying to play?

At what point,

Do we stop trying to work things out?

When our voices are hoarse from every scream,

And every shout.

Life wasn’t meant to be lived like this.

It’s obvious you can’t be around me another day.

So let’s stop trying to make it work.

And go our separate ways.

In the beginning

We devoted ourselves to each other’s smile

After all the hurtful things that have been said,

Neither one of us has smiled in a while.

I know it’s scary,

And I really can’t bear to hurt you this way

But I would rather see you happy with another.

Than to know I keep hurting you,

Every time I try to stay.
