Lingering Hope (poem)

Updated on September 22, 2014

Each day retracing this one memory

This place where her dreams had faded away

Yet lingering hope still whispers today

That face in shadows perhaps it is he

Each day embracing when love had its way

With welcoming arms a safe place to flee

When promises fade to sheer misery

He never would leave he’d never betray

A world full of doubt became her best friend

Live just for today and forget the past

They hurled at her reasons for hope to end

Forget foolish love and all you’ve amassed

She twirled mid this world which tried to pretend

That it was his voice returning at last

So many lovers live with lingering hope. Beautifully done dear friend.

      Voted up, awesome, and beautiful.

It seems to me she needs to move on. Let go of what is gone and make room for someone new.
