Lost Friend

Updated on May 14, 2012

I lost my friend today

The beauty will never be found

You were there for me

The love between us

Disappeared

The clouds in the sky

Hide you from me

The rain tries to clear the path

But I still don't see

The loneliness

Is too painful to bare

I miss you

But you are gone

You're not coming back

The lilies that you held

Dried and died away

Just like you

I know that

Maybe we will

See each other

In another lifetime

Until then

Goodbye

My friend

Such solemn and melancholy words. It certainly describes the feeling of emptiness when a dear friend is gone. "You're not coming back, The lilies that you held" Certainly captures the moments you treasure with that one friend that always held you up on worse times...but now it just becomes a memory. Well done!

Yes indeed my friend! Beautiful! I have seen too much of this in my lifetime but I no longer mourn! I now prefer to celebrate the time I had with the lost one. Thank you for this lovely piece of writing.

Losing a friend is devastating. My coping mechanism is remembering the good times. Beautiful poetry Caroline..

It is sad to lose a friend, I have lost a couple really good friends this year, taken before their time. What a beautiful way to remember your friend.

Sad, heartfelt, staggering sense of loss - the pain eases. Your pen can set the pain free.

Caroline, your words ache with sorrow. I don't know how else to put it. It's that sick ache in the pit of your stomach when someone who has been part of you is gone. A feeling I've known all too well. As I've been reading your poetry recently, I see this recurring theme. Poets write from the abundance of their hearts and your words tell me yours is filled with sadness. I do so hope I am wrong.

Sad to lose a friend. Time is gained for making someone else happy as their friend, and yourself happy in the process. I always enjoy reading your deliberations and thoughts.
