Lost in My Mind
I sit beside a man
Carved from stone,
His heart an iron fist
And his lips a granite grimace.
Alone at night,
I pace an arch-covered driveway
Thinking of someone
Who awaits me and a sunny afternoon.
I only look for help
From a distant mountaintop,
I may someday reach
If the darkness doesn’t engulf me.
I speak but no one hears
The everlasting cry
Of salvation, freedom
And lost pride.
I have come to the off ramp
And the ride has ended,
And the glory is behind me.
Or has the ride just begun?
