Louise Coffee Shop
This is my time to savor. The stillness of the morning, quiet, peaceful
Louise Coffee Shop, the neon sign blinked and winked back at me from the other side
One of the lights bulbs in Louise had burned out, I wondered when Louise would replace it
She stood at the counter talking to one of loyal patrons, laughing out loud to something he’d
Said
I sipped my coffee now wishing I’d ordered a doughnut too, watching the comings and goings
Of all different types of folk
Two cops came in and sat down at the counter ordering coffee and yes the doughnut I now wish
I had
In the booth near the back an elderly couple was sharing a plate of bacon and eggs, they looked
Happy enjoying their meal and something so sweet, they were holding hands like young lovers
Louise finally came over to see if I wanted a refill, I thanked her and said no my bus was
Arriving soon, it was time for me to go
She bid me farewell, saying she’d see me tomorrow
I smiled finished the last drop of my coffee and left her a nice tip
See ya tomorrow, I said, same place same time, took one last glace at the neon sign and shook
My head
