Love Is A Carnival...Loneliness Is A Barren Field.

Updated on May 24, 2010

Lonely is an

empty word...

full of pain.

It starts with

the "L" of it

goes on to one...

and caps it with a ly....

As in sadly...tearfully...

wretchedly.

Love affairs

are a carnival

they set up camp

in your heart...

it's bright and beautiful

and you are drawn

to the colors,

the sounds,

the smells...

the tastes..

the exquisite illicit tastes

but then one night

in the wee hours

of the morn

they break camp

and leave,

offering you nothing

but a barren field

full of the debris of

what was and is no more.

Loneliness is

a freak show

a stage of one

where it feels

as if the whole world

can see your flaws.

It is carnies tearing down the

carnal ride you were on,

dismantling your rush

to the skies.

it's a cotton candy stick

or a caramel apple stick

emptied of the sweetness

devoured by a hunger

that dissipates, disposes

of you and moves on.

Both love affairs

and loneliness are temporal

they pass through

the years of your life

as sideshows to the real thing.

i wish for you

only true love

with no affairs attached

nor lonely interims.

True love is a castle

of solid rock,

strong, steadfast

and not penetrated

by any other.

May you wander

its elegant halls

and sweeping staircases

to the heavens

and experience the

granduer of true love's

finest accomadations.

Anything less is a

fly by night facade

easily disassembled

or a lonely existence

equal to a bearded lady

in a trailer on a back lot

east of Omaha....

after all of her

so called admirers

have gone chuckling home.

How timely is it that I came to this Hub. I have just been mourning for two very special men (relatives) in my life .. Their wives have left them for the Carnival and they are devastated.

I KNOW these women will wake up some day and see that the carnival has moved on .. and their faithful men will also have moved on. I pray they move slowly and look into the heart. I pray they find true love, purpose and soundness in anothers faithful soul.

Love this: "True love is a castle of solid rock, strong, steadfast and not penetrated by any other.

I thank God that I found a man that knows TRUE LOVE and that he found me. It takes integrity and commitment on BOTH parts.

As I read this piece, I heard the song in my head .. "One is the Lonliest number that you've ever heard.. Wasn't that the Beetles?? I'm dating myself aren't I?

You did a GREAT job here MFB of painting a picture of one who runs after the wind and ends up lonely.

Loneliness is like a growing cancer, eats at your heart until nothings left but a pale pink flutter.

When a new love arrives, you act quickly !, removing

      all the old accumulated clutter.

      The atmosphere changes from nothingness

to a cheerful glimmer of hope.

but like always, this too will fade, and i guess

there,s nothing left except the rope hee hee

      loved your poem, another please
