a story of first love

Love comes in many shapes and sizes

Love comes in good times and bad

But the very first love we feel in our lives

Is love from a Mother and Dad

We never wonder as tiny babes

If they will catch us each time we fall

We know they will be there each step we take

And run to our side when we call

As time passes by, Mom and Dad change a bit

Take a back seat to allow us to grow

They don’t interfere as we make our mistakes

But when we need them they just seem to know

They share our laughter when we are happy

Shed a tear each time we cry

Hold us tightly in the comfort of their arms

And pray for help from our Father on High

Then as time passes they change a bit more

Can’t live alone in the home we grew up in

Can’t care for themselves like before

Now sons and daughters become the caregivers

Have the chance to show never ending love

We sit by their side when they are lonely

And pray for guidance from our Father above

Then the day comes when we must say goodbye

They have answered the call from above

They will live in a mansion in Heaven

Surrounded by Heavenly Love

A sweet tribute to our parents who love us more than all the hurts and pains, the good times and the bad, and the precious sharers of the wonders of our lives.
