Love Comes Easy
Love is Love
The beautiful blue sea holds the eyes of too many tourists.
Forty kilometres away from the main town lays Dubrovnik and a great experience in the countryside away from the busy streets.
Surrounded by tall Cypress trees and the many other different green trees that make this part of my world so special.
Have you been to Croatia and loved it?
She wished for many things in her life but her confrontation here was a surprise. On the first Christmas, she felt most lonely without her family. It was not on her mind what will be the present moments.
Life is a series of moments and her moments said it in a special way. Each day was a new day to start her life and more and without her family loneliness set in, but she knew how to handle that part of her life very quickly.
She held her breath when she saw the local people too much to say, yet not enough words. Her anxiousness held her back from talking a few foreign words.
Each morning was a challenge for her and eating breakfast was hardly her choice. As a child, she had everything and a bit more, and now to peasant life.
The young woman did not know that would make her feel different to the other people around her. Sally was a professional woman who spoke a good standard of English.
Since her move to a foreign country, nothing felt the same again. The February wind was icy cold, and she had to keep warm, which was a greater adjustment for the foreign woman trying to live her foreign lifestyle.
She arranged to meet a friend and had to get on the bus. A new means of transport for her was a chance.
The English-speaking friend made communication easier. Conner did not wear a watch and had lost track of time. It was a busy Friday morning with people rushing off to work, meetings, shopping and performing daily activities.
Living in a peaceful town with a small community people are friendly and quite hospitable. A force from deep inside came over Conner like a wave just rushed in. He did not have the time to think about what he had to do and with no choice.
As he got closer to the woman, he could see her more clearly. Others helped him save the lady from severe injuries and she certainly was a beauty.
After showing signs of life again, Conner kept on staring at her face. He saw an intelligent woman and more of a business-like appearance.
He did not have problems meeting women, but it was usually the enigmatic and more serious type of woman who would be taking a courtesy car to work.
Suddenly her eyelids lifted and exposed a pair of dazed green eyes, as her head rocked from side to side.
She seemed vaguely familiar, but after many years living in Croatia, he felt most people on the planet looked familiar.
However, this woman did not look the same to him in his eyes he saw someone very different in many ways.
Conner had to go and leave the woman and ask the older woman with light grey hair to take care of her. Sally looked down at the old lady, wearing a woollen hat and matching thick winter stockings with a basket in the crook of her arm.
Sally was not exactly sure what had happened but remembered staring at the white tiles on the wall on another side of the bus stop, feeling faint for one moment and in the next instant later falling forward.
Luckily, it was winter, and she had been protected by her coat and padded gloves. The palms of her gloves were torn - she must have broken the fall with her hands.
She would stick to a cab in the future and now for a quick shower to wash the episode out of her life.
She felt uncomfortable in the presence of these people – she had to get as far away from this nightmare situation as quickly as possible.
Her six-figure salary meant that she never needed to take public transport again and after this fiasco, she had no intention of doing that.
The entire experience was surreal.
She did not generally believe that knights in shining armour existed – especially, as she was in the matchmaking business. A pain shot through her left arm and she looked at the sleeve of her coat.
She pulled back to study her watch as a trickle of blood dribbled along her wrist and onto the back of her hand. It was only then she noticed a huge rip in her coat.
Months later
''I cannot believe we are here!'' Janet exclaimed as she slipped off her four-inch heels.
She watched her companion Nick nervously strip what she had done a few seconds earlier.
She was down to her shirt and jeans, and her watch was resting in the blue container. The man in the crisp white shirt and dark tie nodded at her waistline and grunted.
''Your belt as well, madam.''
Janet leaned over and whispered in her friend's ear.
''Knickers and bra also, please madam!''
The security guard grabbed the pan filled with metal objects and shoes from Janet and glared at them with furrowed brows. She smiled at him and gave a flick of her long blonde curls as she breezed silently through the security gate.
Nothing could dampen her mood – she had not been at the Croatian Airport with Nick for many years. On that occasion, they were students coming back from a long summer working in London to pay for their college expenses.
They were both in completely different situations now and the break was well-earned.
''Would your brother like us to bring anything over?'' Nick asked.
Janet clicked the roof of her mouth with her tongue – remembering stories of fellow students begging for Tayto crisp and Lyons tea from across the Atlantic Ocean.
There was little nowadays that could not be got in either country. Except...!
''Damn, I forgot to get a couple of peppermint crisp chocolates!'' she groaned.
''Hang on – we will get a few Crunches – that will do him!''
The preparations required before leaving her three children with their father for the next four days had left her little time to think about a gift for her brother Conner.
Nick beckoned as the doors of the bar in Boarding Area B opened.
''Come on – let us have a little tipple before we board!''
''But it is so early in the morning!'' Janet exclaimed.
‘‘Exactly and when do we ever get a chance to drink a nice crisp Sauvignon Blanc at this hour?''
They nodded in agreement.
The moments surprise you and you never know when you will meet up again.
''Hi, Conner we are here!''
Janet giggled down the phone excitedly. She longed to see her brother so much.
It had been a good few years since he had last visited Croatia and she had only ever been to Croatia from San Islands a while back too.
It is a beautiful place and so much to take in from the greater countryside.
A fantastic view of the local bridge and the sea view is just what they needed.
The peace and calm of the Mediterranean Sea from the countryside did make them feel more than just pleased about their trip.
