Love Let Me Linger (poem)

Updated on August 10, 2013

Sweet love let me linger awhile

And lose myself there in your smile

With visions of dreams to compile

Adrift in a fountain you style

The moon lights the way to romance

Each heartbeat falls deeper in trance

Each breath draws us closer to chance

As wonder wakes waves to enhance

I bid time stay distant awhile

Till I find some meaning to trance

A memory precious per chance

A moment a scent of our style

And here on the sways of romance

What mist dares to tamper with smile

What mischief can blindness compile

To stifle what love will enhance

Forget today’s fashions and style

Distractions which life may compile

This moment was made for a smile

Sweet love let me linger awhile

      Good Lord!!

      'Sweet love', and Barry White.

      Someone give me a cigarette.....and I don't even smoke.

Martin, you are diving us crazy!!

I must have missed the limerick, but this did not disappoint. As Leslie said, the rhyme was exquisite and enjoyable...well done, Martin.

I love the message here. Forget the 'things' and status quo. All that's needed is a smile.....

Simply beautiful... I particularly loved the very first line "Sweet love let me linger awhile" Barry White was the cherry on top. :)
