Luminescent Rose
Luminescent Rose
Night falls,
the spirits walked through
white washed walls,
such a sensual mystery
as they held their breath,
and invited death,
tiny insects would crawl
through the mouth of a small passage,
hushed voices
barely audible made choices,
and the soft words were carried in the fog,
so thick,
that only the mist would stick
to the night air,
sad moments
were felt throughout this abandoned city,
and the spirits who lingered took pity,
as the tension grows,
and the ghosts were bright,
they each carried a luminescent rose,
challenging even the darkest night,
the insects kept feeding
on the thick odor of human decay,
the wavering trees would rock and sway,
limbs hung with moss,
and a lone praying mantis would pray,
as another swarm of insects
kept picking dried flesh from human bones,
angels sadly wept,
over the reeking water
where some spirits slept.
