Mad blanks : A POEM

Dawn descends on all like the sun
Paucity distilled
Life is a pawn
Playing us dead
The spirits moan
Like a shameless son

Their laughter in the bucket
Chokes like the smell of manure
Life is covered in a blanket
Mediocrity plans adieu
As spirits act like men
Ha ha!

I am here scratching the balls of a beast
My feet resting on raised elbows
Dashing chows and blows
Jest marches on the floor in haste
Eyeing me with hate
Oh! My life is on the slate
Battered in flattery
My voice is afraid
Like the heart of a maid
Dissected by the master's fury
Shame walk about in deep thoughts
To flush the congealed farts
Please, slap me with your mouth odour
A dough to the door
Puuuur!

The great days are gone
The years laugh in wasted jeers
In fears and tears
We drown;
In our land,
Death is dawn
Dawn descends on all like the sun
Paucity distilled.

Taiwo you are kind with words; my boss Frank, I am most glad sir. Sweet Ruby and gorgeous Gypsy, I salute you two. What glad comments you all painted my face with. I'm very glad and hope to do more. Blessings shall marry your hearts and stuff it with much praise.

      Bless you all. :)

Thanks so much, Homeplace. Your words leave me in such high state. I'm most humbled. Blessings.

Nadine: You are right. Sometimes, I wonder too at the birth of these words. It feels good sharing this little thing with you all. So glad to read from you. :) :-)

I'm always awestruck how poets like you manage to capture feelings about that life in a pawn. Well done.
