What is unique about Madiba?
It was a celebration of its kind on the 10th of February 2010 as South Africa marked the 20th anniversary of Madiba's release from prison, Madiba is a unique individual and his ability to balance the good, bad and ugly made him an exception from all that i have seen.Though on a serious note, i will equate Madiba to Martin Luther King but the difference in both men is that one lived to see his dream while the other didn't live to see his dream but the connection in both men is that they both had a DREAM.
Powerful words by Madiba.
1.In my country we go to prison first and then become President.
2.If the United States of America or Britain is having elections, they don't ask for observers from Africa or from Asia. But when we have elections, they want observers.
3.If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.
4.It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.
5.A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.
6.After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.
7.Communists have always played an active role in the fight by colonial countries for their freedom, because the short-term objects of Communism would always correspond with the long-term objects of freedom movements.
8.Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
9.I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man.
10.I dream of the realization of the unity of Africa, whereby its leaders combine in their efforts to solve the problems of this continent. I dream of our vast deserts, of our forests, of all our great wildernesses.
11.Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all.
12.Money won't create success, the freedom to make it will.
13.Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another.
14.There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires.
I once wrote a hub about men that inspired me though i did not include Madiba in the list but i must be fair and honest with my soul all the time that is why i wrote this hub in recognition of a man whom i found worthy of emulation, a man in whose smile,i see love and a man who made me love Africa.
Nelson Mandela
Words are not enough to say...
What
You really mean to me
I love you o papa
You mean the world to me
Some said you are nothing
But
I have something for them
Great men come in different forms
That is why Madiba is an IDOL
May God keep you strong
And bless you all your days
You spent 27years for our sake
And
We are grateful o papa
In you we found our light
You made everyone equal
Your dream for bread for all
Is a dream of an ICON
Papa, i learned something great from you, the way you do negotiations.
"And I know the way Mandela does negotiations, he was really thinking of the other side too."
