It takes years, don't expect to make money quickly. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket either. If you also write poetry and short stories send them to magazines, don't let a no stop you. Keep trying and someone will buy your work. It's a lot of rejections but the yes's are worth it.

It is very clear Lisa and you have a lot of useful info here. The only thing I was wondering while reading it is if all the sites are open to anyone or is just specific countries.

The video link isn't working - I refreshed the page and it still didn't work so that might be an obstacle.

Maybe you can add more pics - I'm like a child the more pics the more I enjoy it.

      Hope that helps.

LauraDo93, I was in the same boat too. I thought that there was no way I could make money off my poetry. Now, I just send them off to these sites. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't but it's always worth a try!

Thanks so much for the information I have been wanting to try to publish my poetry since I was 20 years old. Most offers were scams. I can't wait to visit some of the sites you listed. This just may be the year I make the leap into more unknown writing territory.

Thanks for reading Brandon. Most of these sites also accept essays and short stories too, that may be more up your ally. Yeah, it's more of a young adult magazine so they try to use works from writer's in that age group.

I'm not a poet, but this is pretty valuable information you've provided. Looks like poetry writing is a pretty good way to make some extra money, although I did find it kinda strange that one of the sites only accepts work from people 25 or under. Anyway, great hub. Voted up, useful.

bizarrett81- Yes, having work on Hubpages is considered previously published. So, you would not be able to use material that you have on this site. Mhatter99, you are very welcome.

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments. I researched each and every site on this list, which took a lot of time. But, it was something that I was interested in and I knew that others would be as well. I see such great poetry here on hubpages and I would love for all of us to get the chance to make some real money off of our work. Again, thank you guys for reading!

Thank you for an expansive list with pertinent info regarding submissions. I will have to start writing more poetry so I am still able to publish at the hub, in addition to having work to submit to some of the publications on your list. Thank you for sharing this much appreciated information with all the poets here.
