Flying High to Release the You Within
To Fly You Can't Clip Your Wings
I commented to a fellow blogger at another wonderful forum for sharing your thoughts. I told her I thought she was brave for considering telling the world about her own life, trials, and joys. I informed her that I was still stuck in the world of what others thought of me.
When I wrote her I said "If one wants to fly, they must not clip their own wings." The more I think of this one little statement the more I see what I was saying. My creativity is secluded, hidden away in the back recesses of my mind screaming to break free. The inhibitions of my life and my learning are keeping it from tearing through personal image to become something others may actually want to read.
The encouragement of others is like candy. Sweet and satisfying, it gives someone like me a little extra push in the direction of openness. I relish each and every person who has given me positive feedback on my brief endeavour into writing.
To be a writer you must learn to open up and let go of the past, let go of peer pressure and let go of those things which hold you back. Inhibitions are great for a corporate executive but they need to be released in order for a good writer to become a great one. I am on my own journey and invite each and every potential and aspiring writer to also go on their own journey into putting the very best words together to cause others to want to read more.
J.K. Rowling is an author that I do believe has a great talent. Every book she wrote left the readers holding their breath for the next edition to come forth. Even in her very well written conclusion there is still the idea that there must be more. If we can find it in our own writing to put words together that make people pine for that next novel from our fingertips then we are beginning to accomplish the greatness that we can become.
If you wish to write, don't clip your wings. If you wish to share your imagination with others, soar and fly as high as you will. Do not be afraid to think outside of the boxes that society has given you. Consider your sources and consider your ideas. Each one of those can bear fruit and enable you to advance to the next level.
I pray you each fly as high as you will and then go higher still.
